The Vienna Schuhmuseum
The Vienna Schuhmuseum (Shoe Museum) was officially opened by federal minister Dr. Michael Häupl on 1 October 2002.
During the past decade, more and more people habe developed an interest in the subject of (hand-made) shoes. The opening of the Schuhmuseum is, then, a logical step.
Work had begun to convert the guild's former conference rooms into a museum in 1993. Over the years, a state-of-the-art museum was fitted out with painstaking attention to detail.
